Here are some considerations to encourage you to replace or at least reduce mouse habits and start using shortcut keys extensively.

Pro Level #1. Efficiency

It is generally acknowledged by pro’s that you can increase your productivity and accomplish more tasks by using the keyboard instead of mouse. In other words, it’s easier and gets your job done faster =). Take for example the task of selecting all the text in a document. You can do that by simply pressing Ctrl+A while doing that with the mouse requires pressing the left mouse button and dragging it across the whole document. You can say - "this is not significant", but summarize all this small actions you are doing during 8 hours day and divide this time on two - you can be such fast.

Pro Level #2. Multitasking

When you use the keyboard more than mouse you don’t have to follow a pointer to see what you are doing and you can do things semi-automatically thus freing your mind for other tasks. Using all 10 fingers typing you became faster in 80% of tasks. Usage of Home/End/PgUp/PgDown/Ctrl keys for fast navigation in text can make you lightning fast.

Pro Level #3. Faster than Computer

You have time to plan your actions while your hands doing all low-level tasks, you dont need to even see your screen. When your computer doing some actions you keep sending hot key events in queue, so CPU is loaded all time 100%. Forget about cutted laptop keyboards - use full-sized with most common layout - your hands will remember that layout and will do all magic without your attention.

Extensive mouse usage is associated with RSI (Repetitive Syndrome Injury) much often than the keyboard usage. By alternating mouse and keyboard usage you can reduce the risks of RSI.

Precision

When you have a task that requires precision it is advisable that you use the keyboard, for example if you move a layer in photoshop pixel-by-pixel, it is more accurate to handle it through arrow keys.
